Want to help improve the experience and well-being of LGBTQ+ people during the family formation journey?

Your participation will involve three parts:

Survey

You and your partner will also each take a ~20-minute survey. The questions in these surveys are intended to help us better understand how your background shapes your experiences, as well as provide more context around your well-being and care treatment.

Family formation timeline

As a couple, you will create a single timeline that includes any significant events, milestones, or periods of time along your family formation journey—from your first discussion of having kids until today.

Interview

Lastly, there will be a joint 60–90 minute interview on Zoom with you and your partner. We will chat about your family formation experiences in more detail using the family formation timeline you both created.

More details

Where will the interviews happen?

In the comfort of your home, or in a private and quiet space of that you choose. If you need support finding a private location we can help!

When will the interviews happen?

We can schedule your interviews at days and times that are convenient for you. This can include weeknights or weekends, if needed.

How will the interviews work?

We will chat using the videoconferencing tool, Zoom. This will require you to have a computer or smart phone and reliable internet. If you need help accessing these things we can arrange something else.

I’m trying to become pregnant so can I still participate?

Absolutely! You only need to have used fertility services to be eligible for this study.

I don’t have a partner/spouse so can I still participate?

At this time, we are only enrolling romantic couples for this study. We hope to expand our scope in the future (with more funding) to include more expansive parenting structures, too!

I’m not sure if I’m eligible for this study. What should I do?

We encourage you to take the eligibility survey to determine if you may be able to participate during the study period.
